Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has urged the government to suspend with immediate effect the controversial scheme of garage letter issuance for parking permits for land vehicles.
Speaking at the first public consultation of the Male' City Council for this year, the Mayor of Male' City reasoned that both the garage letter scheme and the practice of issuing hefty fines for parking violations in congested Male' were draining people's hard-earned income, and that it was neither ethical no professional.
The Mayor also noted that all preparatory work for the installation of 8 new parking buildings in the city was completed. He elaborated that the project commencement was pending an approval from the government. He reasoned that these buildings would bring about a mssive release of pressure on the demand for parking spaces in the congested capital city, we appealed to the government to give the Male' City Council the go-ahead to put u the parking buildings without further delay.
