Chinese Ambassador Pays Courtesy Visit to Mayor Adam Azim

The Ambassador of China to the Maldives, Kong Xianhua, paid a courteous visit to Malé City Mayor Adam Azim at the Malé City Council headquarters on Thursday.

At the meeting, Mayor Azim outlined the Council’s efforts to address key challenges facing the city, and shared plans for future development initiatives. He reiterated his vision of making Malé City a safer and more livable place for residents, while pointing out that staffing shortages remain one of the main challenges in achieving this goal.

The Mayor also conveyed gratitude to the Chinese government for its ongoing assistance in the Maldives' progress. He highlighted the long-standing bilateral relations between the two countries and expressed his confidence that it would continue to grow stronger in the future.

Ambassador Kong reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting the work of the Council and said that the cooperation between the embassy and Malé City Council will be further strengthened in the years to come.

Deputy Mayor Mekael Mohamed Riyaz and Malé City Council Secretary General Abdul Muhaimin attended the meeting.
