The Male' City Council has announced special packages and revised rates for leasing Lonuziyaaraiy Park for private functions. Earlier, the MCC had gazetted details on the management and utilisation of the Park.
The new packages focus on nine different areas of the park, and forms have been uploaded onto the official website of MCC for interested parties to apply.
1. Varunulaa Raalhu Area - MVR 3,000 for 12 hours
2. Heylhi 1 Area - MVR 6,000 for 12 hours
3. Heylhi 2 Area - MVR 7,000 for 12 hours
4. Us Bageechaa Area - MVR 7,000 for 12 hours
5. Medhu Bageechaa Area - MVR 7,000 for 12 hours
6. Maamelaameli Area - MVR 10,000 for 24 hours
7. Faalan Asseyri Area - MVR 5,000 for 12 hours
8. Kasrathu Fehi Area - MVR 15,000 for 12 hours
9. Fenaaru Maizaan Area - MVR 5,000 for 12 hours
Previously, the park was leased on hourly rates, and only up to 8 hours. Discounts of 10 and 20 percent were applicable, for lease durations of 12 and 24 hours, respectively. Rates were always calculated on hourly basis.
The changes were prompted by public request, especially owing to inconveniences. Earlier, the Park was being leased for 3 to 4 hours for parties, but subsequent requests were being made to access the facility sooner to prepare and decorate. While members of the public were not willing to pay for the additional times, the electricity and water supplies were available to them, making it unsustainable for the City Council to operate without introducing a new guideline.
Mayor Muizzu hopes that the new packages would make it easier for interested parties to lease the Park in the future.
