Mayor Muizzu has expressed concern over the current plan to develop Ameenee Magu and revealed that the Male' City Council's plans did not require the removal of the trees on the main street.
Speaking to the media, the Mayor of Male' City noted that the new plan, which was drawn up jointly by the Planning Ministry and RDC was twice the cost of the MCC's plan, but that they had been giving their support and assistance to RDC in implementing the project.
Recalling that Majeedhee Magu had been developed previously without removing the trees on the street, and that the current plan for Ameenee Magu was deeply concerning. He added that the new plan would also narrow the street considerably, making it more likely to result in traffic congestions at key points along the busy route.
